Overview

What is DSC?

A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is an electronic credential that proves the identity of the signer on documents filed online. In India, DSCs are issued by certifying authorities licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA).

DSCs are used for company and LLP filings on the MCA portal, certain income tax and GST filings, e-tendering, and signing documents electronically. They are issued on a secure USB token.

Signing certificates are the most common; some tender portals also require an encryption certificate. DSCs are typically valid for one to three years.

Who is this for?

Directors, partners, proprietors and authorised signatories.
