Overview

What is Startup India?

Startup India is a government initiative to build an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship. Eligible entities can apply to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for recognition as a startup.

Recognition is open to private limited companies, LLPs and registered partnership firms that meet age and turnover limits and are working on innovation or improvement of products, processes or services, or have a scalable business model.

Recognition makes you eligible to apply for several benefits. Each benefit — such as specific tax exemptions — has its own conditions and approval process.

Who is this for?

Young companies and LLPs with an innovative or scalable business model.
