A pitch deck is not a business plan in slides. Its job is to make an investor understand your business quickly and want the next conversation. Clarity matters more than design flourishes.
A structure that works
- 1Problem — who has it and why it matters
- 2Solution — what you do and why it's better
- 3Market — who your customers are and how many of them there are
- 4Product — how it works, with a screenshot or demo
- 5Business model — how you make money
- 6Traction — users, revenue, pilots or partnerships to date
- 7Competition — alternatives and your advantage
- 8Team — why you are the people to build this
- 9Financials — key assumptions and projections
- 10The ask — how much you are raising and what it will achieve
Tips that make a difference
- One idea per slide, with a headline that states the point
- Use real numbers and be clear about what is actual versus projected
- Keep the main deck short and move detail to an appendix
- Make sure every number in the deck matches your financial model
